Domestic Violence Charges Dropped Against Former Gubernatorial Candidate

Police officers and the legal system often have trouble prosecuting domestic violence cases. This is due to the lack of cooperation with victims which leads to judges dropping cases. This is exactly what happened in Florida last week when Christy Mihos' case was dismissed. According to the court documents, the former Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate was facing charges in Florida. His wife accused him of assaulting her while they were on vacation there. However, she has since changed her story, prompting the judge to claim that the prosecution no longer has a case.
While she first told local police that her husband had struck and injured her, she now claims that she hurt herself. She also alleged that Mihos has had sex with prostitutes multiple times, a charge that remains unfounded. His legal problems are not yet over, however, as he still faces possible battery and domestic assault charges from a different incident from last summer. If you have been a victim of abuse and would like to end the maltreatment, speak with a family lawyer in your area immediately.
