Discussing Your Prenup

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! While you are having a blast planning the wedding, there is one more thing that you should consider: signing a prenuptial agreement.
Discussing a prenup is not the most romantic thing in the world. While you are discussing floral arrangements and picking out your dress, the last thing you want to discuss is the possibility of a divorce or death. However, it is in your best interests to discuss certain topics now before you are married just in case.
Timing is everything when it comes to a prenuptial agreement. Most lawyers agree that you should not leave the discussion and signing of this document until the last moment. If you want to ask your partner to sign a prenup, give that person a few months to review and discuss it with their family law attorney. Should you want until right before your marriage, a court could revoke the document altogether in the case of a divorce.
