Football Player Told to Pay or go to Jail

It was either spend time behind bars or make a payment in full for a football player who was behind on his child support payments.

According to the court documents, the 37-year-old player was behind two months on his child support obligation, owing $10,000. Since this was not the first time that the player had missed a payment, the prosecution sought a more severe punishment. While the player first blamed the lockout for being unable to make his payments, the player was given a choice: make the full payment or spend time in jail.

After consulting with his attorney, the player paid both the $10,000 and the legal fees. The player still has not been signed by a team and he currently plays for a lower ranking team which he says has affected his finances. However, it is reported that he brings in about $660,000 per month.

If you want to seek past due child support payments, it is a wise idea to hire a family law attorney who can offer legal resources and assistance.
