Sacramento Man Looking to Ban Divorce

A Sacramento man is making a satirical crack at those who supported Prop 8 back in 2008 under the banner of protecting the sanctity of marriage. John Marcotte, 38, is insisting that we take the next step to protect traditional marriage by putting a measure on the ballot that would ban divorce in California.

Marcotte told public radio, "Since California has decided to protect traditional marriage, I think it would be hypocritical of us not to sacrifice some of our own rights to protect traditional marriage even more." The married father of two's proposal would amend the California constitution to eliminate the ability of married couples to get divorced, but allow married couples to seek annulments.

In order for his measure to make the ballot, Marcotte needs to gather 694,000 signatures by March 22, 2011.
