According to information allegedly obtained from a legal affidavit that was part of the Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Mary Kennedy divorce case, instances of abusive behavior toward Mary's step children had spurred RFK, Jr. to seek custody of the four children the couple had together. In yet another tragedy involving the Kennedy family, Mary Kennedy committed suicide last month at a New York estate. RFK, Jr. had filed for divorce about two years ago and the proceedings were still ongoing at the time of her suicide. The report states information from the affidavit that describes several instances of taking things belonging to Mr. Kennedy's daughter from a previous marriage and attempts at parental alienation. He was allegedly seeking a protective order against Mary on the basis her erratic behavior in front of the couple's children including intoxication and threatening suicide. It was also described how she would show up on trips uninvited, take his property and physically attack him. According to the report RFK, Jr. was asking the court for child custody and a court order stating that Mary was forbidden from certain behaviors and actions in front of their children.
