Domestic violence is a serious issue that requires knowledgeable and effective legal help. Domestic abuse is not confined to merely physical acts of violence but can include instances of emotional abuse as well. There may have been signs of emotional abuse early on in the relationship that may not have been recognized or may have been brushed aside such as mild threats or efforts to control the other's life. As time goes on, however, these instances may escalate into severe physical violence. For some victims of a violent marriage or other relationship the only thing more frightening than staying with the person can be the fear of what may happen if they try to get help.
