As reported by the Mohave Valley Daily News, a man that had been arrested for domestic violence before did not escape a new arrest on Christmas day after allegedly pinning his girlfriend to a wall, holding her by the neck and threatening her with further injury.
Police officers responded to a domestic violence call made by a concerned citizen at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve.
Lt. Steve Smith, with the Bullhead City Police Department said, "The victim told responding officers that she had been asleep when (R.B.) woke her up to make breakfast for him. When she returned to the bedroom, she found (R.B.) asleep and woke him to give him the breakfast plate."
Being awoken allegedly angered R.B. as he began to scream profanities at his girlfriend, then he punched the bedroom door more than once, breaking it with the force of his blows.
Smith continued, "The victim then asked (R.B.) to leave the home, which angered him more. He proceeded to grab the female around her neck, throwing her up against the wall and threatening to harm her."
The victim claimed that while R.B. was choking her she felt that she was on the verge of passing out. Fearing for her life, she struggled against R.B.'s chokehold and he finally released her and then he fled the home.
Smith stated, "The officers observed a scratch and redness around her neck consistent with someone grabbing it and the door was visibly broken with fist-punch holes in it. It was determined by investigating police that an assault took place."
Officers arrested R.B. on Christmas Day, collecting him from his home and taking him into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman. R.B. was charged with felony aggravated assault per domestic violence, two counts of disorderly conduct per domestic violence, criminal damage per domestic violence, threatening and intimidating per domestic violence and violation of a court order.
R.B. is being held on two bonds – $10,000 from Bullhead City Justice Court and $5,000 from Bullhead City Municipal Court – according to Mohave County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Trish Carter.
Throughout 2012 R.B. has faced other criminal charges involving domestic violence. In August, after pleading guilty to three out of six charges, including the intent to injure per domestic violence, he was placed on probation.
In October R.B. was charged with threatening and intimidating with intent to injure.
In November R.B.'s charges involved criminal trespassing in the first degree per domestic violence.
The Christmas Eve allegations, classified as felonies, could go to a grand jury for indictment. Along with the felonies R.B. also faces five misdemeanor charges. He has pled not guilty to all of the new charges.
The case will be heard in Bullhead City Municipal Court in early 2013.
