Restraining Order Denied in Dog Euthanization Case

An animal rights group lost its battle last week when a judge ruled that a dog would be euthanized. The dog in question, Onion, attacked and killed a 1-year-old boy last month in Clark County. A judge ruled on the case last week and decided that the dog would be put down and denied a restraining order request. Despite the fact that the animal rights group set up a trust fund to have the dog housed at an animal sanctuary in Colorado, the judge ruled that the group does not have ownership of the dog. As a result, it does not have the right to fight for the dog's right to stay alive.
In fact, the dog's owner gave up this right when she relinquished her dog to the city of Henderson. The Rhodesian/Mastiff mix was found to be responsible for attacking and killing her grandson while he was visiting on his birthday. Onion grabbed the toddler's head and shook him, causing irreparable damage. If you are in need of an immediate restraining order, work with a family lawyer in your area as soon as possible.
