Older Parents Refill Their Empty Nests Through Adoption

When parents hit 45 or 50-years-old, they are normally at the point where they start to experience empty-nesting. Their children have grown up and are out of the house at college or working a full-time job. While some parents may enjoy this exciting time to kick back with their spouse, others have a very hard time handling the quiet home and the lack of company from their children. One group of older adults from Franklin, Tennessee has decided that they will refill their empty homes through adoption. The 50-something adults say that they have decided to adopt internationally so that they can care for orphans in other countries who don't have a home. They told USA Today that they assume that children would rather have a loving family with older parents than no parents at all.
Depending on what country you choose to adopt from, you may be able to bypass any sort of adoption age limit. Fit parents of almost any age can participate in foster care. As well, domestic adoptive parents used to be restricted to adopting while they were under 40, but the baby boomer generation is constantly challenging that ideal by proving that older individuals are more than capable of handling the responsibilities of parenthood. Grandparents are often able to adopt their grandkids when family situations require it, and don't have to be concerned about being rejected because of their age. Some countries that offer international adoption may have a cumulative age limit. This means that if you and your husband together can add your ages up and total less than 100 years of age, then you can adopt from certain countries. This cumulative limit varies depending on what country you are dealing with. If you have more questions about older parent adoption, then a family lawyer can help you.
