An average of 100 cases are brought before courts in Manatee County each month regarding restraining orders. In the past, some of these cases were filed days after the request was submitted. Thanks to a new software program, restraining order papers can be served faster than ever, thus providing safety to the people who have requested them sooner. The County Clerk of the Circuit Court office has initiated a new program that will make processing restraining orders faster and easier than ever. Once approved by a judge, a restraining order will be downloaded into the new system. It will take mere moments before it is received by an on-duty patrolman who can then deliver the papers.
What used to take an average of 24 hours will now take an average of one hour, the office has reported. A total of 14 judges have agreed to the new system which will allow them to electronically sign the petitions and have them fast-tracked to police officers around the county. In need of a restraining order? Now is the right time to seek the services of a family lawyer near you!
