Freddie Mitchell Detained for Failure to Pay

A former baseball player has been detained in Florida for an arrest warrant originating in Indiana. Freddie Mitchell, a former pitcher for the Philadelphia Eagles, is wanted for failing to make child support payments. When Mitchell learned that there was an arrest warrant with his name on it, his lawyers advised him to turn himself in. He was arrested but later released on his own recognizance. A judge struck a deal with Mitchell in which he could be released from jail if he brought his child support debts up to date before the arraignment. Since he failed to do so, he is back behind bars in an Orlando jail.

Not only is Mitchell in trouble for failing to make his child support payments, but the federal government also wants him on possible tax fraud charges. He is due back in court on May 1st to answer for the tax fraud charges. The former player has not commented on either set of charges recently brought against him. If you are past due on your child support payments, don't wait for law enforcement to intervene. Instead, work with a family lawyer that can present you with immediate legal help.
