Lawmaker Accused of Failure to Pay

Even lawmakers find themselves on the wrong side of the law sometimes, as is the case of a U.S. Representative that is being questioned about negligent child support payments.

The lawmaker has been arguing with his ex-wife over missed child custody payments for their three children. While she is arguing that he owes her $117,437, the ex-husband told the court that he already paid $100,000 of that. The judge responded by stating that the court needs proof of these payments, and soon.

It would seem that the Congressman would have no problem making his child support payments, as he earns an annual salary of $174,000. Even though $2,134 is removed each month for child support, that still leaves ample funds to make amends for lost payments. This battle has been going on for years, since the children were 9, 13 and 16 years old. They are now 16, 20 and 24 years old, and the matter has yet to be resolved.
