Omaha Man Gets Jail Time for Failure to Pay

If you have fallen behind on your child support payments, beware: your local government is probably already on the lookout for you.

Such was the case for an Omaha man who was given 40 to 120 months in jail for failing to pay $17,000 in back child support. Last week, Saunders County Attorney Scott Tingelhoff issued a press release stating that the man had made a deal with prosecutors. In exchange for pleading guilty to five counts of criminal nonsupport, the prosecution dropped an additional 25 identical counts against him.

For each count that he pleaded guilty to, the man can expect to serve 20 to 60 months. The judge ordered that two of the counts must be served consecutively, while the last three could be served at the same time as the first two.

This isn't the first time this man has been reprimanded by the court system. According to Tingelhoff, he was found guilty of criminal nonsupport back in 2009 as well.
