Detroit Police Track Down Father Behind on Child Support

Detroit police tracked down a man last week who is seriously behind in his child support payments.

According to police reports the 41-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, currently owes $214,647 in back child support payments. When officers arrived at his home on the eastside last week, they held a warrant for his arrest. In total, he is being charged with five felony counts of failure to pay child support.

He has since been arraigned on two of the charges; the remaining charges will be discussed in court this Friday. Even though he was given a personal recognizance bond, he remains in the Wayne County Jail until his second appearance in court. On June 21 a preliminary examination will be held to discuss all five charges against him.

The police were tipped off to his location last week by the Child Support Division of the Attorney General's office.
