Amber Portwood Gets Probation for Domestic Battery

After pleading guilty to the two charges of domestic battery against her, Amber Portwood has received probation instead of jail time.

The former star of "Teen Mom" was found guilty of domestic violence when she struck her ex-fiance, Gary Shirley, in front of their baby girl. As a result, Portwood spent one day in jail and was threatened with three more years if her behavior didn't improve. When Portwood went before a judge last week, she was ordered to attend 30 days of in-patient therapy, to finish her high school diploma, and to place $10,000 in a college fund for her daughter. In return, the felony charge against Portwood was dropped.

After an episode of "Teen Mom" showed Portwood clearly striking Shirley, the authorities had no choice but to take action against Portwood for domestic violence.
