New Mexico Collects $123 Million in Child Support Payments

In the state of New Mexico, it has been reported that the Human Services Department has been able to collect over $123 million through child support enforcement efforts. The constant efforts made by the department led to the huge collection total this past fiscal year.

The recent total is up seven percent compared to the previous year and is a record amount for the agency, say local news sources. Reports also show that three-fifths of the money collected came through the withholding of parents' wages. Other payments came through the collection of tax refunds, direct payments, and even gambling winnings.

Are you owed child support from a non-custodial parent in your state of residence? If so, you may be wondering what you can do to collect the money that is owed to your child. One of the best things you can do is to speak with a family law attorney that handles delinquent child support cases. A lawyer can take appropriate measures to enforce your child support order.
