Divorce Leads to Boxer Surrendering His Championship Belts to Wife

When you are going through a divorce, you will be asked to reveal all of your assets and property, including championship boxing belts as a former boxer learned this month.
The boxer is going through a divorce with his wife and the battle is almost more painful than a bout in the ring. The boxer learned this week that he will have to give up his three championship belts to his wife, but only until their three children reach the age of 18. At that point, the belts will be turned over to the children. In addition to giving up his prized possessions, the wife will be able to collect half of the earnings made by the boxer during the length of their marriage.
This means that not only does the wife get profits from any fights that boxer participated in, but also profits from DVDs and videotapes of those fights. Considering some of his fights were against big-time names in boxing, the sales of those DVDs could stand to make major profits in the future.
Have questions about the division of your assets during divorce? If so, you should take the time to get answers from a family lawyer who handles divorce cases near you.
