Woman Fails to Pay $24,000 in Child Support

In an unusual turn of events a woman has been charged with neglecting to make child support payments to the tune of $24,000.

Evelyn J. Hoschar, 38, has failed to make payments since 2003. She finally plead guilty to three counts of Class I misdemeanor of attempted criminal non-support in Cass County District Court. These pleas were entered as part of an agreement that Hoschar crafted with the prosecutors, in which she also agreed to pay $200 per month for the duration of her sentence.

The state has already agreed to recommend a probation sentence when they all appear in court again on March 7.

She was originally charged with five counts of Class IV felony non-support but was able to argue it down. Hoschar was supposed to be paying $244.10 per month in child support for her two children. Since that time she has also paid less than $150 towards child support.
