Elizabeth Edwards' Will Made Public

Now that Elizabeth Edwards' will has been made public "Inside Edition" took the liberty to publish it for everyone to see. She left everything to her three children and made no mention of husband John Edwards. Now that she has passed away Edwards is no longer responsible for making alimony payments. However, this wasn't a surprise to anyone since he had gone public with his infidelity and the two had already filed for a separation.

The final will was signed just six days before Edwards passed away on December 7.  Considering how complicated wills can be, this was a simple one, just three pages long. In it she asked that her daughter Catherine be responsible for a private trust fund, in addition to naming her as executor of her estate. Catherine, or Cate, was also named as the caretaker of her two younger siblings, Jack and Emma, should anything happen to their father.

When you are considering a divorce you will also be asked to determine whether you want to ask for or supply alimony.  If you are unsure, it is advised that you consult with a family lawyer.
