UK Child Support System Being Overhauled

The British have one government entity that controls all child support issues for the country. It is currently being overhauled and not everyone is happy about the progress. Unlike the American system of collecting child support where the individual is often responsible for making payments, the British have an agency that automatically deducts payments from people's paychecks. This money is then transferred to the parent that has custody of the child. While this system has worked for decades, the agency that has controlled it has come under scrutiny.
In an effort to collect more child support for those families that need it, the agency will be remodeled and renamed. By doing this, the government hopes to prevent wayward parents from getting around making payments that they have been ordered to make. This change will also save taxpayers money in the long run. Taxpayers are now paying 40 pound for each pound that is owed by individuals paying child support.
