Drunk drivers that cause car or pedestrian accidents should be penalized more severely according to one state representative.
The Washington lawmaker wants to create a new law that will treat drunk drivers that cause accidents differently. He was inspired by the death of a young man that was killed in a drunk driving accident this year. When police arrived on the scene of the accident, the man was found to have three times the legal blood-alcohol limit. The young man left behind a wife and two children, all of whom will now have to deal with not just the death of their loved one but the loss of his financial contribution as will.
If the lawmaker has his own way, anyone that any drunk driver that takes the life of someone with children will have to pay child support. This will ensure that no matter which parent is taken away, the children will not be forced to go without the financial support necessary to raise them.
