New Orleans to Aid Victims of Domestic Violence

New Orleans will take advantage of a U.S. Department of Justice pilot program that helps victims of domestic violence. Mayor Mitch Landrieu explained that the program will assist victims in obtaining the legal help they need, in the form of pro bono work, for those who financially unable to obtain legal help themselves. For many this will be a way to break the "cycle of abuse" that many victims find themselves in because they do not prosecute the person(s) committing these crimes.

This new program, called Access to Justice for Domestic Violence Victims, will accumulate lawyers to aid victims in navigating family court, find safe housing, and protective orders.

If you need help accessing services for domestic violence victims, or are seeking representation for yourself, you should call a family law attorney to assist you. When you or someone you love has been hurt by another, don't let another day go by without obtaining the physical and financial help that you deserve.
