A woman in the Carlsbad, California area has reportedly been able to avoid paying spousal support thanks to a new law. According to reports, she avoided paying him support because of a law that "prevents a judge from ordering a spousal abuse victim to pay support to his or her attacker after divorce." The woman was allegedly attacked by her husband, but was then asked to pay $25,000 in legal fees for the attorney representing him. The law will officially go into effect in 2013.
