A legislator is attempting to use his official standing to get four criminal counts against him dropped. While his attorney claims that his status as a legislator prevents him from being charged, several legal experts disagree and have come forward with their arguments. Daniel Patterson, a representative for Tucson, Arizona, has been charged with four misdemeanor counts of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend. She called the police after he attacked her at the home they shared. The police report shows that he was forcing her to move out and when she refused, he struck her repeatedly. It also states that she struck him during the altercation several times but there was no proof to show it.
The representative has since pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. While he is not commenting about the charges, he has told the press that his ex-girlfriend is currently blackmailing him. Have you recently become a victim of domestic violence? If so, you will want to enlist the help and guidance of a family law attorney in your city of residence who can protect you from further maltreatment.
