Well known pastor Creflo Dollar is facing domestic violence charges due to an altercation with his 15-year-old daughter that grew physical, according to Dollar, when she was disrespectful to him, as reported by ABC Global.
Dollar's teen told police that her father choked, punched and then hit her with a shoe when the two argued about her going out to a party.
The girl's sibling, a 19 year-old sister, agreed with the story as it was told to police. However, Dollar said that it did not occur that way. He contended that he attempted to restrain his daughter only due to her disrespectfulness. When the teen struck him, they argued, then he wrestled her to the ground and gave her a spanking.
World Changers Church, where Dollar preaches, boast 30,000 people in its membership in the Atlanta area alone. Dollar's ministry is said to have satellite churches over the U.S.
Dollar is currently facing charges of simple battery and cruelty to children – both are misdemeanors. He has since been released from jail with plans to continue with his Sunday preaching services.
Dollar released a statement that said he would never hurt his children and he loved them.
The 911 call from Dollar's daughter came in at approximately 1 a.m. on June 8 from his home in metro Atlanta. Fayette County Sheriffs, in responding to the domestic violence emergency, reported that Dollar "got physical" with the teen, which left her with "superficial injuries."
The teen told sheriffs that after arguing with her father about wanting to go out to a party, she and her older sister retreated into the home's kitchen. When Dollar queried the girl as to why she was crying she said, "I do not want to talk right now."
After she refused to speak to her father, according to the teen, he rushed her. Once he had her in his grasp, Dollar allegedly put his arms around her throat. Then he punched her and hit her with his shoe.
A deputy noted a scratch on the teen's neck.
Dollar told the deputy that the reason he refused to let his daughter attend the party was because her grades at school weren't good.
The older sibling that witnessed the alleged attack, added that her father grabber her sister by the shoulders, slapped her face and choked her. She contended that though her sister attempted to break her father's hold on her, she did not strike back at him.
At the moment Dollar allegedly tossed the teen onto the floor, her older sister sought out their mother to intervene. Taffi Dollar, Dollar's wife, was interviewed by deputies but failed to witness any part of the fight.
In a written statement the older daughter contradicted her earlier statement. She then explained to police that she was intimidated by her parent's presence. She did another statement – without her parents around – which was more inline with her original report.
