Five Fathers Battlign Georgia Court

Five fathers are battling state attorneys in Georgia who want them to be punished for poor decision-making. The battle has made its way up to the Attorney General's office and it is likely to go even higher than that. The five men won their case before a lower level court last year. Their argument was that parents who are unable to pay child support should not be jailed without having access to legal representation. This only deepens the financial burden by preventing the individuals from seeking gainful employment and separates them from their children. These men want the state to provide lawyers to impoverished parents that cannot afford legal representation of their own.
Several state attorneys are appealing the latest judge's order that will allow thousands of other parents to join in the fight. They believe that this type of judgment allows parents to become sloppy in their child support payments and does not punish them properly when they fail to make the payments. Are you owed child support payments? Work with a family lawyer near you so you can obtain the support you are owed by law.
