Counties across the nation are dealing with a rise in domestic violence cases. In some areas like Idaho Falls, county leaders are taking steps towards educating the public about domestic violence and how it can be prevented. A pilot program is being tested in Idaho Falls that is certain to garner local headlines. The Domestic Violence Center has created a program that will use young male athletes to help educate younger men and boys about domestic violence. Since men are traditionally the abusers of women, the county seeks to educate young men about the dangers and ramifications of domestic violence before they become involved in an incident that might lead to abuse.
One of the new mentors, a high school senior and football player, hopes to use his popularity to set a good example. While he does not know of any friends that abuse their girlfriends, he does know of manipulation that takes place, which is just one indicator of domestic violence. If you are in an abusive relationship, stop the maltreatment once and for all by enlisting the help of a family law attorney in your city!
