Gunman Had History of Domestic Abuse

A gunman that is now on trial for opening fire in an Arkansas courthouse has a history of violence that dates back several years.
According to his ex-wife, she was forced to take out a restraining order against him before she filed for divorce. During their marriage, she experienced varying degrees of physical and mental abuse, much of which was witnessed by their young son. On one occasion, the man even tried to set their couch on fire to intimidate his then-wife.
Even though the young man denied the claims of violence, a judge sided with his wife, granting the restraining order. With this, she felt comfortable enough to file for divorce, which was also granted later that year. The man's anger resurfaced this month when he walked into a courtroom with a concealed weapon and shot a court worker. He was later shot and killed by a policeman attempting to subdue him.
