Ad Announces Names of Parents Owing Child Support

Local officials are expecting phone lines to be inundated with calls next Monday morning after an advertisement is posted in one newspaper publication.
After working overtime to find delinquent parents late on child support payments, the attorney's office decided to take extra measures. The department will post an ad that lists 3,995 parents who are late on child support payments. It will then urge the community to take action by contacting law enforcement officials and the attorney's office with any information about these parents.
This isn't the first year that the office has posted this ad; this year is the sixth year that the newspaper has run the advertisement. However, even more names will be listed than ever before, prompting the department to prepare itself for more calls than ever before.
Together, the 3,995 people listed owe in excess of $88 million in child support. Those who are named in the ad should not be surprised as they will have been contacted many times by the department in the past.
If you need to modify the amount of your child support payments, it is a wise idea to enlist the help of a family lawyer so you do not face additional legal penalties.
