Actor Sells Property to Make Up Child Support Payments

A famous actor has sold one of his properties for $18.5 million. The movie star sold all but 141 acres of his extensive ranch to a Texas oil man and his wife. The property had been on the market since 2009 and was originally listed for $33 million.

The reason that the movie star sold his property had to do with a child support dispute with his ex-wife. The actor has been required to make child support payments of $27,500 per month since the couple split in 1996.

The ex-wife claimed that the movie star fell behind on these payments and, in order to get him to pay, she forced a lien on the ranch property. The ex-wife will apparently take proceeds from the property in lieu of the child-support debt owed her. It is currently unclear how much of the $18.5 million will go to the ex-wife who is the custodial parent to the couple's two children.

If your former spouse has fallen behind on child support payments, a family law attorney can help you explore your options for getting the financial support you are owed.
