Woman's Beauty Does Not Influence Alimony

Contrary to popular belief, a woman's beauty has very little to do with deciding alimony.

According to ten lawyers who were interviewed by "The Straits Times," their experience showed that a woman's attractiveness bore little to no influence on the amount of her alimony. However, there is a case in the High Court right now wherein the judge is being asked to think about the attractiveness of the wife when determining alimony payments. It is being argued that her attractiveness will lead to a likelihood in remarriage, which should change whether the judge grants monthly payments of a lump sum.

The polled lawyers agreed that even if this case is ruled in favor of rating attractiveness when determining alimony, it shouldn't bear weight on any future cases. Since a judge has to examine other factors as well, such as financial needs, income and age, it is unlikely that judges in the future will rely on attractiveness levels to determine alimony.

Planning to obtain alimony?  If so, it is important that you work with a family lawyer.
