Heisman Trophy becomes an Issue during Divorce Case

Football superstars always seem to be making headlines, although not always for actions on the field. This week one player has been asked to give his Heisman trophy back to the Heisman Trust, to which he has replied that he doesn't know where the trophy is. To make matters worse, his parents have just announced their own divorce, which wouldn't be related, except the stepfather had claimed the trophy last week from the San Diego Hall of Champions.
It is possible that the stepfather could hold onto the trophy, claiming that it was a gift from his stepson. However, if he chooses that route, it would have to be included in the divorce settlement as a personal asset. This isn't the first time that his parents have complicated the player's life. His living situation with his parents during his years at USC ultimately led to the football pro being deprived of his trophy.
When it comes to divorce and property division, matters can get tricky quite fast. For this reason, it is advised that people work with a divorce attorney who can protect their rights as well as their property.
