A young girl in Summerfield became a victim of domestic violence at the hands of her own father last week. Julian Maynard Saunders, 49, is reported to have held down his 19-year-old daughter to the floor while allowing the family's pit bull to join in the attack. This was all witnessed by the girl's mother who attempted to intervene and was bitten by the pit bull as well.
It is also reported that Saunders is known for bringing the dog into the house when he thinks a fight is about to break out; the pit bull is known to attack when he witnesses an altercation. Both mother and daughter were taken to the hospital to have their injuries treated.
Local police with the Marion County Sheriff's Office arrived shortly after to find that Saunders had fled. They later tracked him down at his brother's house and taken into custody on Mon. 7 around 4:30 a.m.
