Football Player + History of Abuse = New Domestic Violence Charge

A football player, in trouble with the law in three different states for domestic disputes, contract issues and bad behavior, has a new domestic violence charge – this time lodged against his wife – as reported by the Miami Herald.

B.M., currently with the Miami Dolphins after three years with the Denver Broncos, reportedly said in a 2010 interview, “From the time I was 6, I was taught to react on the field, not to think, to make decisions in a millisecond, and the problem is, I was doing that in my life, too.  I was reacting, never taking a moment to step back and think things through. And I had a temper. Someone made me mad, I'd fight back. I wanted to win every argument. Now, I realize it’s okay to step away and lose an argument.”

B.M. married M.N.C., a psychology major that allegedly was helping him deal with his temper, in 2010.

M.N.C. was arrested on April 23 for stabbing B.M. in what she has claimed was in self-defense.  She has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.   She has since made her bail of $7,500.

This is not the first time that B.M. has been stabbed by a woman during a relationship.  In 2007 his girlfriend, R.W., told ESPN that she used a knife to defend herself against the football player as well.

R.W. has claimed that the domestic violence began in 2006 when B.M. tried to choke her.  Even after more incidents of abuse, R.W. failed to press criminal charges.

R.W. said in an interview, “I loved him. I had known him since the eighth grade and we just always had like these like fairy tale plans.  I just always thought, I could take it, and after a while it started to make me, I guess tough, and just angry, to where I would start to you know, if he hit me, you know I am punching and kicking and fighting back.”

By 2007, when the violence grew more intense, R.W. grabbed a kitchen knife to defend herself but, instead, B.M. used it on her – he cut R.W. on the right thigh.

By the end of March 2007 B.M was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.  The charges were dismissed when he completed anger management classes.

In March of 2009 B.M. and his current wife, M.N.C., were arrested and booked on a disorderly conduct charge.  Police stated that they encountered the couple having a physical fight just outside of their home.   Charges were dropped the following day.

In the summer of 2009 B.M. asked to be traded as Denver refused to renegotiate his contract.  He had been suspended for two preseason games due to “conduct detrimental to the team”.   He was also allegedly goofing off during practice.

Per his publicist, B.M. has had surgery following the stabbing and is expected to fully recover.
