In Brooksville, it was reported that a 37-year-old inmate died after suffering a seizure.
Edward A. Thomas was observed having a serious seizure at 4:16 PM by jail deputies. A nurse making rounds responded to reports of the medical emergency and was able to wake Thomas. He told her he had not suffered seizures before.
Then, Thomas started to have trouble breathing and paramedics were called to the jail. Deputies placed him on the floor and continued to talk to him as his breathing slowed. He then had another seizure and later died.
Thomas was booked into the jail a few days prior to his death because he had failed to pay court ordered child support. Police say that an autopsy has been scheduled.
