Mayor of Los Angeles is Officially Divorced

This week, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's divorce became final in Los Angeles.  Three years ago, the mayor's wife filed for divorce, but the termination of the marriage only became final this week.

Back in June 2007, Corina Villaraigosa filed her divorce petition in Superior Court. She cited "irreconcilable differences" as the grounds for terminating her marriage with the well-known mayor of Los Angeles.

Following the submission of her divorce petition, the mayor said that he took personal blame for the failure of his marriage.  He told reporters, "I take responsibility for what is happening and I feel a personal sense of failure about it, and that's all I'm prepared to say on this question."
