New Jersey Arrests 150 for Failure to Pay Child Support

A statewide sweep of New Jersey resulted in 150 delinquent parents from Central Jersey being arrested last week. The total for the state amounted to 953 people over the three-day operation, reports Sheriff Frank Provenzano, president of the Sheriff's Association of New Jersey. 

In addition to parents arrested for delinquency in child support payments were also those who failed to appear at court.

There were 154 warrants served in Central Jersey: 47 in Somerset County, 13 in Hunterdon County, 79 in Middlesex County, and 15 in Union County. At this time the police attempted to collect money owed from the offenders. The following list represents how much money they collected versus the total amount owed in each county.

Somerset County: $8,660 of $759,271.26

Hunterdon County: $9,510.50 of $235,913.24

Middlesex County: $10,133 of $1,596,316

Union County: $3,392.45 of $235,543.66

Statewide: $223,141.10 of $14,300,385.75
