Tampa Father Arrested for Owing over $165,000 in Delinquent Child Support

Police officers in Tampa, Florida report that they recently arrested a man who failed to pay over $165,000 in child support.  The man, David William Earley, was arrested by law enforcement yesterday after they found him at a residence in Holiday County.

Kevin Doll, the Pasco County sheriff's spokesman, said that police, "got a tip that he (Earley) was someplace in holiday" and that police, "found him in someone's house... the person gave us permission to search, and we found him."  Doll would not release information about the person who owned the residence or detail how Earley knew the person.   He only told new reporters that Earley had been residing in Pasco County for years and that they have been looking for the man for several weeks before receiving a tip that yielded positive results.

According to news sources, Earley is 42 years old and he was living on an acre sized lot of land with his second wife and two daughters.  The family owns both a dog and a horse and his wife runs a successful hair salon in Pasco.  Earley works laying tile, but has recently had a hard time finding consistent work, which is why he claims he was unable to make over $165,000 in child support payments to his first wife.

Shortly after hearing about this case, Florida Senator Mike Fasano drafted a new bill that will require all fathers who fail to make consistent child support payments to do a week of work detail while wearing a shirt or a vest that has the words "Deadbeat Dad" inscribed on the apparel.  The Senator passed new legislation after growing tired of hearing reports of mothers and children who are suffering throughout the state of Florida from lack of child support payments and income.
