Child Support Bill Could Strip Parents of Driving Privileges

A Wyoming bill that makes it easier for officials from the Department of Family Services to strip away the driving privileges of parents who fail to make child support payments is moving forward in the state House of Representatives.

The Wyoming House of Representatives approved House Bill 190 for the second time.  The terms of the bill make it easier for the department to take away driver's licenses from parents who are more than $5,000 behind in mandatory child support payments and who have not made a payment in 90 days.

According to Rep. Mary Throne (D-Cheyenne) who sponsored the bill, there are approximately 1,900 people in Wyoming who currently fall in that category.
