Dissolution

Dissolution of marriage, most often referred to as divorce, is a process wherein the legal bond of matrimony is terminated. This differs from annulment, which declares a marriage null and void. With dissolution proceedings, the legal bond created between two people by marriage is dissolved and they may begin separate lives and remarry if they wish.
Dissolution proceedings can be complicated for a number of reasons. Arrangements will need to be made regarding spousal support and the division of assets and debt, as well as child custody and child support if there are children involved. Any of these issues can present problems, even for spouses who are on relatively amicable terms. Dissolution proceedings are also legal in nature and must be handled properly if they are to be successful and considered legally sound. For these reasons, it is crucial to consider involving an attorney.
