Fathers’ Rights Case Gains National Attention

By Jones Law Firm  Jul. 13, 2012 10:51a

A Denver father's case will be returning to court in mid July but in the mean time he is enjoying a hard fought victory in being able to see his daughter. R.M. has been trying to be part of his daughter's life since her mother was pregnant with her. Her mother apparently did not want R.M. to take on any parental role. It is unclear whether or not the mother wanted to keep the child herself. A judge had ordered that the woman not conduct an out of state adoption but she disregarded the order and had her brother take custody of the little girl. The child is now four years old and her father has barely been in her life but has been fighting for his father's rights the whole time. If you have a fathers' rights issue or need help with some other family law matter then speak with a divorce lawyer to learn more about your legal options.

In recent weeks, however, R.M. gained a major victory when the judge on the custody case ordered that he be allowed to see his daughter. The birth parents and the adoptive parents are to have time with the girl. R.M. was also thrilled that instead of being able to see his daughter just once a month as the case proceeds, the judge has recommended that more visits be conducted. The little girl was re-introduced to R.M. for the first time since she was a baby. A gradient approach is being taken in order to help the little girl with what could be a very confusing issue when it comes to birth parents and adoptive parents. She and her father played together and enjoyed each other's company.
